guess who is into you?

an inspirational entry about relationships

Sometimes we are the dump-ee instead of the dumper. Rejection never feels good. In fact, rejection stinks. Especially when you are really into someone. You know how we girls are. We plot and plan our futures with that special someone only to find out that special someone does not find us quite as special. It hurts when a relationship ends.

While we should acknowledge our feelings of disappointment and sorrow, we should never get to the point where we allow someone’s rejection of us to turn into a self-deprecating exercise. Doing so will allow the adversary of our soul to have too much influence over us. He will attempt to use our hurt to make us feel worse than we already feel.

Instead, we should turn our full attention to the Lord. We should go directly to Him and tell Him about our pain. And when we go, He will meet us right where we are. Because of His loving kindness, He will gently guide us back to healing and wholeness. In Him, we can be restored. He loves us more than we could ever imagine.

So, when you are the dump-ee, and someone has decided that they are just not that into you, know in your heart that there will always be “the One” that is eternally into you.

He loves you because He created you. You are the apple of His eye and the light of His life. Yes, you! He knows the number of hairs on your head! He rejoices over you with singing. Yes, you! He’s into you because He knows your character, and your heart and in these, He finds great worth and potential.

So, do not grieve this relationship’s end. Just know that when the time is right, He will send the right mate to find you. He will allow one that will love you like He loves the church to come into your life. Do not waste anymore time lamenting the past. Why? God has prepared a marvelous future for you. Go ahead and move forward with a smile, confident in knowing that the eternal God of the Universe is totally in to YOU!

I only feel that way about God when He “rejects” me, or so I think of it as rejection.

Sometimes I get very caught up in “self” that I feel rejected when God doesn’t do “it” my way! Oh boy, the things I have been taught about that!

smooches,
Larie

Beautifully written – and that Zephaniah verse is popping up all around me. I think when we really grasp the way God loves us that rocks our worlds and changes our way of living. The part of the verse that is so sweet to me is “He will rejoice over you with singing.” Wow. That’s love. One of my sweetest memories is of my father singing the song “Tell Me Why” when he would tuck me in at night. So I can picture God singing over me and it just makes me feel secure and tucked in by God’s love.

Hi Ladies,

I am so happy to be able to share with you this week! I’ll be checking back in as the day/week goes on to answer and respond to your posts!

Larie and Melanie!!! Looks like you beat me here! That’s alright though – it’s been tough getting moving this morning! I love your comments. The cool thing about God is that He never rejects us. He never leaves us. He knows who we are and who we will become. He’s our great Creator

I find it amazing that knowing everything that He does about me that He still loves me. He rejoices over me. And, He definately rejoices over you too! If only we could keep that at the forefront of our minds – particularly when dealing with relationships, eh?!

Oh Melanie – what a perfect picture of that verse with your earthly Father!

Absolutely True! It is difficult to be rejected, by that special someone…or anyone! It can hurt and sting…but the Lord sees who we really are and knows our value and worth. Thank you for sharing this!!! Could not have been better spoken. God Bless!

Great devo Sanya! I wrote about the blessings of rejection on my blog last week as “inspired” by being passed over for a leadership position at work and by receiving a rejection email from a publisher all in one day. Over these past couple years, the Lord has been really trying to hammer into my stubborn mind and heart that He is the only one whose approval really matters.

Very well done, Sanya! So great to see you on here.

He loved us first and always will — no matter what. Beautifully written devo Sanya!

Great point Rachel and Lee. Any rejection is hurtful, yet God is right there providing the balm.

Sanya,
These are words of both an inspiration and encouragement. It gives hope to persons who have been too long, living in the mode of rejection and as you so very well put it, allow the adversary of our souls to have too much influence over us. I appreciate the comment by Lee regarding being passed over for aleadership position at work. I have also faced rejection pertaining the workforce. In reading your article I am encouraged in by being assured that eventhough man might reject me- God is into me… And I have no doubt that he cares. Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you in this effort. This is good news.

Best Regards

I really like how you wrote this!

I’m sure that anyone who is the “dump-ee” will feel encouraged by reading this. :-) The scripture added was a great finishing touch.

Very good. Yes, we have to look to God. He’s the source of true peace, love and joy.

Thank you for the sweet reminder of the great love of our Father; and though man may reject us, as His word says He takes great delight in us, and sings over us. We (I) need to claim this in the difficult times of rejection. Thank you Sanya for my blessing today!

Sanya October 27, 2009 at 10:10 am

I am so grateful that the Lord is using this article to move beyond the original scope of relationships to broader areas, like the workplace and organizations that we may try to get into as well.

Just this Sunday, I was speaking to someone about rejection that sometimes happen as we seek to join with organizations. We were specifically talking about greek-letter organizations and friends that we knew that had been rejected. I have my own opinion about that but it’s not for this forum. :-) Nevertheless, these organizations do exist, along with MANY other types, and membership is often subjective. The thing is this – man is man. He will reject you sometimes and embrace you at other times. We don’t have to worry about this with God.

Have you ever experienced this: sometimes somebody will seek you out when you have something to offer and reject you when you are no longer able/willing to provide what they seek? Did it hurt you when they walked away? I’ve experienced that and I felt rejected (and used).

No matter if you faced that scenario, Rejection is rejection. It still hurts. But, thank God we have a Father that never rejects us. Now, let’s return the favor and NEVER REJECT Him. God is so very good to us. We should never reject Him, defer Him or put Him on hold while we do other things.

Something to think about huh?

Sanya: BEAUTIFUL!!! Loved the insight and the sage advice. We have all been there and done that, but you put it out there so well! Keep it coming!

charlene October 27, 2009 at 7:36 pm

Good job.Keep telling the word about Jesus. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

Gwyn October 27, 2009 at 8:33 pm

Thanks for pointing us to God and His view of us versus putting too much into another human being and what they think of us!

Sanya October 28, 2009 at 9:22 am

Gwyn,

You’re on point! It’s all about how God sees us. We should live our lives to please Him and not worry about whether or not someone else sees our worth.

Thanks everyone for weighing in!

Thanks for being so real about this topic. I was thinking about how easily we can be disappointed in being “dumped” by fellow Christians. When the world rejects us, we expect it, but getting hurt by a brother or sister in Christ seems to sting a bit worse. Any good verses come to mind in relation to this aspect of being a “dumpee?” I could use them for a friend who is hurting.

Thanks!

Sanya November 1, 2009 at 3:47 pm

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for stopping by. You are correct, getting “dumped” by a fellow Christian does seem to add a bit more zing to the sting. Yet, it happens and when it does, I try to remember whose I am. I belong to God and despite everything that man may do, or say to me, God loves me more and best. I’d tell your friend not to waste time with those that cannot appreciate their worth. Check out Proverbs 13:20 and Isaiah 26: 3-4. Encourage your friend to keep their focus on God.

Blessings!
